December 21st
It is well past midnight and my part of the world is still here. What timezone are the Mayans in anyway? I can hardly wait for Saturday...Happy Solstice! Remember when we could play outside until the streetlights came on? Nobody even checked on us...I think! There was probably some peeking going on just to be sure we were still safe, but it was an adventuresome childhood. Truth be known we didn't stray too far from the neighborhood. There was enough going on right there!

The Lone Crone
Sure, I have family, friends and acquaintances, but today I deem myself The Lone Crone! Beading, reading, crocheting, drumming, going to the movies or out to eat, driving along the coast, cloud watching, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera, are all things often made more enjoyable by being shared; but today several of those were enjoyed alone. Yes, there were other people in the theater, but the movie (Moonrise Kingdom) had my total attention. The spectacular sunset afterward was breathtaking. There have been other sunsets shared with people no longer in this world and many shared adventures with those same people and I do miss being able to reminisce with them, but it does not prevent my pleasure in the moment at hand. Time was also spent today blog-hopping. You know...one blog leads to another, and another until you are way off the original subject. But you have learned so much or seen a very different part of the world. The inspirationalbeading blog was very delightful showing some wonderful Bedouin beading. The traveling bracelet blog by Sig Wynne-Evans is a great idea that has really taken off. Sig's designs are fabulous and it's fun to see the places the bracelets are going or have been.

Blog to blog
Honestly, I thought about creating a different blog for each of my interests, but I know that would wind up being too confusing! Everything is so connected! My interest in one thing always leads to another and on and on. Today I started out at the Crafty Chica's blog and after wandering through a dozen more blogs, decided to return to mine. That Crafty Chica is so much fun. She was on a tour to promote her new products and got waylaid by her son's appendectomy! See how life is? She has written all about it on her blog. http://thecraftychica.blogspot.com/
May go to the Rain Forest Cafe today...if so, will talk about it later.
Ciao for now.

Still crocheting...
That's right. Crocheting has won this round. Knitting is waiting in the wings. I know crocheting uses more yarn but I just like the rhythm of it better. Now I am working on a ruana. Years ago I had one in varying shades of blue and purple. I didn't make it but someone knitted it and I wore it until it was just threads. This one is mainly brown with a back panel of varigated autumn colors. Autumn is my favorite season so I hope to be finished by then! I've also been doing a lot of Zentangles. They are wonderful. There are many patterns and ideas for projects online.I get a lot of inspiration from tanglepatterns.com and appreciate all the work that Linda does to maintain the site. Another good site is tangledinkart.blogspot.com.

Knitting and crocheting now. Made a snood this week and had yarn left over so making a bun cover. Made am old fashioned bookmark in filet crochet...how did they do crochet with those tiny hooks? One of my many aunts crocheted a lot and I'm surprised she did not get carpal tunnel syndrome! Wish me luck to also escape it.
